The Hayward Education Association (HEA) exists to protect and promote the well-being of its 1,300 members. HEA’s primary purposes are:

To represent HEA members in their relations with the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD.)
To be the exclusive bargaining agent of appropriate units of school employees in all matters relating to employment conditions as well as employer-employee relations including, but not limited to: wages, hours, terms/conditions of employment.
To form a representative body capable of developing group opinion on professional matters.
To speak with authority for teachers.
To promote professional attitudes and ethical conduct among members.
To provide opportunities for continuous study and action on problems within the profession.
To encourage cooperation and communication between the profession and the community.
To foster good fellowship among members.
